At
present, Arts for Healing is forming a research team of professionals
in neurology, psychology, and creative arts therapies. The focus of
the research projects will be the neurological benefits of creative
arts therapy. The team will design and conduct studies over the course
of many years. At AFH, our aim is to build upon the current research
that points to the beneficial effects of musical experience in the
areas of cognitive, emotional, and physical development throughout
the lifespan of individuals living with special needs.
We believe that there is a scarcity of research that
addresses the unique benefits to the developmental processes of people
with special needs involved in creative arts therapy treatment. Through
our research endeavors, we look to substantiate the notable and positive
outcomes that we have seen through many years of clinical experience
as creative arts therapists. Our aim is to expand the current models
of learning, and to inform intervention programs for people with special
needs.
