This community family concert will provide an interactive music experience, demonstrating the benefits of music generally and specifically in the art of healing and self-expression. Together in Music is aimed atintended to promote a broader awareness of general health and well-being associated with exposure to music specifically and the arts generally. The concert will also help raise awareness to the value of music and art therapy in the treatment of individuals with communications disorders, including those on the autism spectrum.
Following the concert, the musicians will hold a "petting zoo" where audience members will have a chance to get up close and personal with their instruments.
Tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for children. Please contact us for ticket information. Proceeds will be used to benefit Arts for Healing.
Exhibition: January 17th - March 31st 2012 at the Bank of New Canaan
208 Elm Street New Canaan, CT (next to the train station)
An artist creates work to express to the world his or her own voice. To produce a work of art that expresses a voice is always a challenge, and even for the most gifted and fortunate, it can be frustrating, emotional, and physically demanding. A profound voice that we do not often hear is that of the artist with developmental disabilities such as Autism or Down Syndrome. We are fortunate that we will get the opportunity to hear these unique voices. This is the concept behind “Brush Strokes”.
We are honored to announce that the Bank of New Canaan will be hosting a local showing of this amazing art. All of the artwork exhibited has been created by clients of Arts for Healing. This exhibit highlights to the community at large just how important truly life-changing self-expression through creative artistic endeavor can be.
On January 25th, the Bank invites the local community to attend an opening reception to view this art and meet some of the artists, from 6-7:30PM.
Please stop by the Bank of New Canaan between January 17th and March 31st to see these works. The hours are Monday-Fridays from 9-5 and Saturdays from 9-12.

Since then, our art has been exhibited at the Silvermine Art Gallery, the New Canaan YMCA, New Canaan Town Hall and at Pepsico HQ.
